I just love the retro look of these pink and red Mommy and Me frilly aprons.
The generous layered ruffles on the hem, the adjustable neck and waist ties take one back to a time where everything seemed so unhurried, so happy, so peaceful, so 1920s.
Although perhaps not as peaceful as we would like to think...
Back to the roaring 1920s where the Charleston, the waltz and the lindy hop were the latest dances. A time of prohibition, no alcohol allowed but alcohol was smuggled into the country on cigarette boats in the dead of night or brewed in Southern mountain stills. A time of gangsters, of Al Capone and the mob. It was all happening and looking back from where we are now it even seems somewhat alluring, exciting, forbidden.
Alas things have changed, and not necessarily for the better.
But you can take yourself back in time.
The next time you're in the kitchen grab your daughter, strap on your retro aprons, become "flappers" and do a quick waltz around the kitchen. Then get on with the baking.
Cooking doesn't have to be a chore. You can make it fun and wearing a bright 1920s style apron can help to put you and your daughter in the mood. Although I'm pretty sure your daughter won't need to get in the mood. Once she sees you in the kitchen she will automatically be there wanting to help. "Mommy Mommy, please can I....
I really like that this apron takes me back to a simpler, more appealing time. Maybe it will do the same for you.
